10:03 pm Sitting in the Petrie Museum at the moment. (Egyptian Museum at UCL). Doing some volunteering, front of house again. It's not difficult and it's quite nice. I'm surrounded by cabinets of old pots right now. I'm just kinda treading water until:
1. Results Day (Bugger!) 2. My Buckingham Palace job starts in July (Also Front of House-I'm getting good at this stuff, I just need a more involved museum job. Which isn't easy when you're still a student) Not that I'll be able to talk much about that here. I've had to sign the 'Statute of Secrecy Act' so that I don't leak any juicy royal gossip. Alas...
I'm only doing a couple of afternoons a week at the Petrie, but it's much better than just sitting at home watching iPlayer. Which is what I had been doing following my return from Cornwall. Saying that I've had quite an exciting week. Which I'll go into more later as the museums about to close. Current Location: Petrie Museum

12:18 am I suddenly realised earlier this evening that I couldn't remember the last time I'd updated my blog (about 34 weeks ago according to livejournal). So I've decided to try and update it more often because otherwise I just won't remember anything I've ever done. As much as I love Facebook (it's all about the stalking) it's just not the same as Livejournal. And it's far more productive procrastination to update my Livejournal than to stalk old school friends on Facebook...right?
I'm avoiding my essays and reading for uni at the moment. It's all fun and games there. I've got an essay to finish on Julian the Apostate's pagan revival for a weeks time. Then an 5,000 word essay on Sumerian magic and demons for the end of next week. It's not as exciting as it sounds and far more difficult. But I do feel like I'm doing either
a. Hogwart's homework b. Supernatural style research c. Giles style research
whilst doing my reading which is a bonus. Then at some point I have to actually do some of my dissertation (Religious Tolerance in the Persian Empire), which at the moment looks a little non-existent. I'm trying to get through all my primary sources right now but I lost interest after a couple of Apis Bull Sarcophagus inscriptions.
Tomorrow I'm seeing Watchmen at the Imax in Waterloo, which should be good. And then I'm going out for dinner with blazin_fiddler which, again, should be good.

09:31 pm I haven't used this thing in soooo long, I'm just so busy doing nothing at the moment. This is mainly a ranty, angsty blog that I just have to get off my chest to somebody other than Oli. I just can't work out whether life is good or not at the moment. Sometimes it's great- I've got a month long contract at the Natural History Museum (somewhere I've wanted to work since I was a child and my aunt took me there when my mother was in labour with my sister), I'm happy with Oli, I love being in London etc. But then I have to turn down a job I want more than any other at the moment because the museum change the advertised hours so, because it's an 8 month contract, it clashes with all of my six hours of lectures despite being a part time job. What's even worse is that I was competing against so many other far more experienced applicants for a job in a museum (the British) which is possibly the best museum in the world. Plus I'm not even sure I want to live with my current flatmates next year but I have no other option. Both of them are going to want to live miles out and we were supposed to be living with some other people who I have nothing against but I don't know. I always feel like such an outcast around them because they just can't be bothered to speak to me or tell me anything half the time unless it's to 'make sure I switch off the kitchen light when I go to bed...because I left it on two nights in a row.' Oh I'm sorry...I forgot...it's not like I did it deliberately. They both seem to see me as below them because I don't want to worship at their shrine, I'm not 'cool' enough- I'm not one of those photocopied individuals with their indie films etc. Sometimes they're fine but only really when they're on their own...otherwise I might as well not exist. They seem to make no effort to see me anymore and I'm sure it's because I'm a bitch, or spending all my time with Oli or whatever but if they ever invited me to do something I might actually come because I might actually feel excluded...but obviously that thought doesn't occur to them. And whatever I say over this housing thing will just be because I'm a bitch and want to make things difficult...they're frustrating me so much all the time!
So basically I have no idea what to do over them, one of them technically still lives here but I never see her because she's out every evening with her 'cool' new best friend...
Whatever I seem to do is wrong and it's driving me mad! Current Location: Mornington Crescent Current Music: Prince Caspian OST

10:23 am - I believe that its today anyway Happy Birthday Southend High School For Girls!
(I told people here about our school birthday and they looked at me like I was some weirdo (Which I am)It was the bit where I was like 'and then everyone gives the school a birthday present and we sing Happy Birthday to it.')
In honour of this momentous occasion I am going to wear my SHSG hoodie to my latin lecture, this is also because it is torrential rain and my hoodie (funnily enough) has a hood!

10:50 pm - UCL Ok so there's a 50/50 chance that I'm still taking a gap year despite getting into UCL. They sent me the stuff about the accommodation that they're planning on giving me today-Campbell House East.
There are some things that are really good about it, I've got a single room (I might have had to share), it's on the next road along from the History Department and it looks pretty from the outside (in the pictures at least)
However there is no internet access in the rooms only a computer cluster in the basement (there is only one other UCL house like this, the west side of the place does have internet access), the 'music' room consists of a piano in a study room, there are six kitchens between 100 people (about 17 people to one kitchen), apparently there are only three showers, a bath and a couple of toilets per floor (about 15 people per bathroom and we don't even know if they're single sex bathrooms), I don't even know what the bedrooms look like (there are no pictures, a bit ominous) oh and last year a mature student was found dead in one of the rooms after having been dead a few weeks. (I was doing some internet research when this one came up)
I can cope with basic but...apparently they're refurbishing it over the summer so its not even up to date squalour.
Oh and for this charming accommodation I shall be being about £85.00 a week. A mere snip I believe.
I'm going to look at it tomorrow to see if its as bad as it seems. If it is I may still be in Southend next year (but on a plus side Rachael will be happy and I can get money)
In other news I was planning on going to bed but got distracted by 'The Tuxedo' opening sequence when the words 'Jason Issacs,' flashed across the screen. Current Location: home Current Music: The Tuxedo

08:00 pm - 'Alas he's mad.' I am actually about to die. I've tried so hard with revising for Music but its not going in. I lost virtually all of yesterday's revision time because of parents, violin lesson and concert (and 45 minutes of Doctor Who). I can't do the Listening tests (I'm getting better with the Classical-it's the more modern (read 20th century-its not that modern) jazz/big band/swing/rock and roll etc that they throw in occasionally and expect you to know who it is. Hello, music teachers focus on Classical... I can make educated guesses (such as Queen who unfortunatly came up last year) but I don't know who's conducting a swing band. And the last section...I don't know what notes it played or which cadence it was in b.34 or which key it modulated to. Anthology-don't know it-Tippett???? Keyboard Music-wtf. And Wagner...well anyone taking A level music will understand the problem with Wagner.
There's just too much to learn, especially when I've got another exam in the afternoon which I've done virtually nothing for. Post Colonial Literature...erm...yeah... I've been listening to Classical Music all day...I think I'm beginning to understand the wonders of Chav Music-its so simple. If I hear any of the anthology pieces many more times I'm going to scream, especially the Tippett and the Sweelinck. Words can not describe how much I hate them.
If I make it through the next two days it will be a miracle, it's much more likely I'll end up in an asylum rocking gently back and forth, tunelessly (what tune?) humming the Tippett over and over again.
It should all be over by Tuesday...then I'm free...until my grade 8 singing exam the following Wednesday...and then my Grade 7 violin a couple of weeks after that (hahahaha-that should be fun)
And look I've got a Tristan and Isolde icon specially for this post...how sad.
P.S My madness was not helped when I was looking through the music book Pitcher gave us and found a certain poem set to music-'Oh Rose thou art sick' Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
ETA
Oh and I'm in isolation all night tomorrow so my Mother's got to pick me up from my English exam (as in from the room) so I won't be able to talk to anyone tomorrow before you think I'm being rude if I ignore texts, emails, comments, actual conversations. Not that anyone else is taking the history extension (other than Alex) but I've still got to be in isolation. 12:15 pm I've discovered the advantages to using our wireless laptop rather than my own computer. I can sit in the garden and read livejournal while pretending to be making a history revision sheet thingy.
I'm having trouble typing because I've sliced off half of my finger shaving my legs this morning. I ripped off half of my nail and its horrible and nasty and bleeding profusely. Erg!!!

02:22 pm I've found one advantage of the World Cup-which I think everyone in England (not Britain-I don't think the Scottish are watching)is watching. I'd rather do Blake revision than watch the football.
However I will not be revising when Doctor Who comes on because it takes priority over revision, in the same way that Lost does.
So anyway back to Blake and Hamlet. Current Mood: productive Current Music: Now We Are Free-Gladiator

07:50 pm - Gah!!! Why does the J.K.Rowling interview on Richard and Judy have to be on the 26th June?
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#article:8724
The single night that I'm in solitary confinement (basically) because of the clash in my Music, English and History extension exams. I'm not allowed to have my phone, read a newspaper, go on the Internet, watch TV. My mother has to pick me up from school and drive me straight home so that I can't talk to Alex to find out whats on the paper.
It could have been any other night in June but no....

06:38 pm - Part Twenty Three-In Which Our Intrepid Travellers Return Back Home
Dedicated to Wendy.
I apologise for the sugariness of bits of this. I suggest if you do not belong to 13GBK you avoid reading this. It's meant to be awful.
Part Twenty Three- In Which Our Intrepid Travellers Return Back Home
A wave of shiny purple glitter washed over 12JST. It was an identity crisis and suddenly they all found that they had been changed to 13 GBK.
They had ended up in a strange place. Everything was colourless and there seemed to be less of them than before. Burcu, being the Maths genius, counted the group. She paused over one member, ‘who are you?’ she questioned.
‘I’m Carly,’ the girl said. Everyone nodded in agreement. Another girl was also new to the form, ‘Hi I’m Lauren, I deserted Ms Sergeant.’ Again everyone nodded in agreement.
‘We’re missing some people,’ Burcu said, ‘not everyone who started is still here. They must have passed to the great beyond. Also known as the outside world.’
Everyone hung their head in remembrance of those who had left the form. “What are we to do?’” Rosalind said, “now that people have gone. We don’t know where we are!”
“We try to stick together,” Maria said, “we are the ‘cool’ form after all.”
Another wave of colour washed over the travellers. They looked up and found they were back in their form room. Miss Baker, having replaced Miss Taylor, was doing the register. Or at least trying to, we all know how temperamental that system is.
“You’re all late,” she said looking up at the sudden influx of students, “you have signed in haven’t you?”
Wendy sighed and sat down behind a desk, “well, we’re back.”
The End
Ten points to anyone who gets the reference at the end.

10:13 pm - Classics I have spent all weekend trying to do my Classics coursework and so far all I've done is rewritten the destruction of Colchester. I haven't even started on the main battle and that's the majority of it. And then there's the destruction of London, the causes of the rebellion, the evaluation.
Argh-why can I never motivate myself until nine o'clock the day before its due? Even my cat's against me, she jumped on my desk and decided to have a snooze on my notes. Then she hissed at me when I pushed her off. She's still glaring at me now.
Why is it that the more homework I have to do, the more things I can find to procrastinate over. Like updating my LJ.
However I have finished my Shostakovich presentation for Mr Cooke. The music essays history essays on the other hand... I haven't practiced for my music performance on Wednesday.
And don't even get me started on revision! Current Mood: drained Current Music: Jurassic Park OST

03:33 pm - Well I'm not dead.... I've been meaning to update for about a month now but have been far too busy to actually get around to it. The only reason I have time now is because I feel too sick to do anything else (good night at Mayhem last night).
Have had soooooooo much coursework and homework and other stuff recently I've hardly had time to do anything else. The main offenders being History coursework and music recital. It's only Classics coursework left to do now.
I think i've finally decided what uni's I'm applying to. UCL for my first choice and Birmingham for my second. It was so hard choosing between Royal Holloway and Birmingham because I actually love Royal Holloway but the course was better at Birmingham and I can transfer straight into Ancient History and Archeology if I want. I'm pretty sure I'm actually going to Birmingham because I don't think I'm going to get an A in History, which is what UCL want.
Oh and this article from the Mail really annoyed me.
http://www.mugglenet.com/mnnews/04102006/mailonsunday.shtml
They're not even correct half the time and fail to mention that there are some nice fat characters Hagrid, Professor Sprout etc. Plus Aunt Petunia isn't fat (I swear she's described as thin but I'm too lazy to find a copy of PS to check.)
So anyway I'm going to stop taking up valuable space on your friends page and go although I will try and update a bit more frequently. Current Location: Home Current Mood: groggy Current Music: Catch Me If You Can OST

Even the little bit is fascinating-the surname connections. The fact that the Potter's are mentioned as being related to the Bulstrodes.
The fact that Burke (Of Borgin's and Burkes?) first name is Herbert so he can't be RAB.

08:25 pm - Luna Lovegood My sister didn't get through to the next round. Apparently only six people out of about sixty in her group actually got their pictures taken. They didn't even have to speak-they just took people on their looks. To be honest, I wouldn't have picked her, because I don't think she looks like Luna either. But they might have ignored people who would play the part brilliantly and picked people who couldn't act.
We saw Lizo from Newsround several times but that was about the most exciting thing. There were a couple of really up themselves girls behind us. You could tell they were trying to sound like serious actresses. They were all like 'oh people are saying you should act Luna mad but, of course, she isn't mad, she should just be acted odd.' and 'she's such a difficult character to absorb, you just can't feel how to play her.'
Also, without being racist at all, there were so many black and asian people in the queue. It just seemed like such a waste of time because Luna is definitly not black, she's described as blond. My sister assures me that none of the people in her group who were picked were black. A black Luna Lovegood just wouldn't work. Sorry that wasn't meant to be racist if it comes out that way.
